Principal responsibilities:
Plan Approval Engineer performs detailed engineering plan review, for compliance to applicable RINA rules, International conventions and contractual requirements, and failure analysis of shipboard mechanical systems including but not limited to propulsion systems, gears, compressors, piping systems, boilers and pressure vessels, cranes, electrical equipments-plants, etc.
This position involves conventional engineering practices as well as the resolution of complex issues related to conflicting design requirements, material standards, and coordination of multi-disciplinary activities.
Plan Approval Engineer will closely work with RINA Head Office Plan approval team and with testing surveyors and clients on specific projects.
Candidate education and specifications:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering;
* Pronounced technical understanding and familiarity with RINA Class Rules and International Conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, UNI EN, ISO, etc.);
* Experience in ship equipment design and/or maintenance;
* Shipyard or operational experience in an engineering function
Professional experience:
* 5/8 years professional experience in a comparable position;
* Previous experience as a plan approval engineer of Classification Societies would be an advantage.
Personal skills and abilities:
* Fluent in German and English language, both spoken and written;
* IT literate in MS Office;
* Good communication skills;
* Ability to work in a team and on tight schedules;
* Problem solving and client oriented attitude.
